FIFA Secretary General Mattias Grafström expressed his desire to see young Chinese players competing in World Cup tournaments across all age groups. During a recent interview in Beijing, Grafström highlighted the importance of creating opportunities for Chinese youth on the global stage.
“China’s U17 women’s team just secured qualification for the U17 World Cup, and the U17 men’s team is also approaching critical matches,” Grafström said. “With the U17 World Cup now held annually, it offers a consistent motivation for young players to aim for international competition. We hope to see Chinese teams involved, whether in the men’s or women’s categories. We will also work closely with the Chinese Football Association to advance football development in China. That remains a key objective of our visit.”
