Wonju City in Gangwon Province has completed the construction of the Western Multipurpose Sports Center and will begin temporary paid operations of its swimming pool facilities starting May 20.
During the temporary operation period, the city aims to alleviate inconvenience caused by the lack of swimming pool facilities and preemptively address any operational issues.
Only the swimming pool will be available during this period, with open swimming sessions rather than structured lessons. Operating hours are from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Wednesday through Sunday. The facility will be closed on Mondays, Tuesdays, and national holidays.
Daily admission fees are set at 3,500 won for adults, 2,500 won for military personnel and teenagers, 2,000 won for children, and 1,500 won for seniors. Those eligible under the city’s ordinance on sports facility installation and operation will receive fee reductions.
Based on the results of the temporary operation, the city will announce the official opening schedule and detailed plans for other facilities.
A city official stated on May 13, “We hope this temporary opening contributes to improving citizens’ health and promoting healthy leisure activities. We will ensure smooth operation and management to minimize any inconvenience.”
