Scaloni Surprises with Argentina’s Pre-List for the World Cup

Argentina announced its preliminary squad for the World Cup this Monday, the final day set by FIFA to submit the preselected players for the tournament. Head coach Lionel Scaloni has included 55 players before finalizing the definitive roster, which must be submitted by June 1. There are no major absentees, and the list features Mastantuono, along with six players from Atlético Madrid: Thiago Almada, Nico González, Giuliano Simeone, Julián Álvarez, Musso, and Nahuel Molina.

Several Argentine players from LaLiga have also made the pre-list, including Zaid Romero (Getafe), Lo Celso (Betis), Echeverri (Girona), and Guido Rodríguez (Valencia). Additionally, players such as Nico Paz and Prestianni are included. Of course, the backbone of the squad that lifted the World Cup in Qatar remains, with Messi, Lautaro, De Paul, and Dibu Martínez among others.

Argentina will play a friendly against Honduras on June 7 before making their World Cup debut against Algeria on June 17. Austria and Jordan will be the other two opponents in the group stage.
